Career military officer, fisherman, gardener and community member, Urban William Boresch, 98, died Sunday, June 13, 2010. He was the son of John Boresch and Elizabeth Heyden. "Bo" was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Dec. 7, 1911. He graduated in 1940 from The University of Wisconsin with a BS Degree in Mining Engineering.

In June of 1940, Bo was inducted into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. On December 7, 1941, his birthday, Bo was stationed at Schofield Barracks at the time of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor.
He continued to serve in the Army, World War 11, and was transferred to numerous locations, including Germany and Korea.

On June 5, 1948, Bo married wife, Mary Louise Norris.

In May 1959, Bo was promoted to the rank of Colonel with the Detroit District.

In July, 1960, Bo retired from the Army. He continued in the Detroit District as a civilian, retiring there as Chief of The Constructions-Operations Division in January, 1980.

One of Bo's cherished pastimes with his wife Mary Lou, was duplicate Bridge. They hosted many Bridge parties and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining friends. They also participated on a bowling team and were involved in The Villagers dance group.

Together, Bo and Mary Lou founded the Michigan Michisteiner Stein Club and acted as both President and Secretary. They also organized the convention for the International Stein Club in Dearborn, MI in 1989. Over the years, they traveled to Europe, Germany and Hawaii. Additionally, they went on yearly fishing trips to Canada and throughout Michigan.

Both Bo and Mary Lou were avid gardeners and their spectacular yard was frequently included in the Grosse Pointe Garden tours.

Bo is survived daughter Linda, son-in-law Richard, granddaughter Kathryn, grandson Bob and wife Leticia and great grandson Bobby. He was predeceased by wife Mary Louise Boresch and son Rodney Boresch.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, at 2:00 p.m. at The Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lakeshore Dr., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
